Deputy Senate President alleges some aides were offered money to work against him and APC
ABUJA, Nigeria — Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has warned aides against disloyalty, alleging that some of them were offered money to abandon their positions and work against him and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
The warning was contained in a statement issued by Shitu Madaki Kunchi, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Deputy President of the Senate, and made available to journalists in Abuja.
According to Kunchi, some APC members in Kano had allegedly failed to appreciate opportunities provided to them by Barau, particularly individuals appointed to positions in the Deputy Senate President’s office.
“We have information that some of them were given huge sums of money to give up the positions entrusted to them by the DSP, in order to cause harm to him and the APC in Kano State and Kano North,” the statement said.
Kunchi said the alleged development had not affected Barau’s commitment to his responsibilities, adding that many people in Kano State were seeking opportunities to serve and improve their livelihoods.
He said any aide who chose to relinquish their position would be replaced by others who demonstrate commitment and loyalty to the office.
According to the statement, Barau remains focused on supporting constituents and promoting development in Kano State, Kano North and Nigeria.
Kunchi also thanked supporters and well-wishers who continued to pray for the wellbeing and success of the Deputy President of the Senate.
