Owan West Chairman Aikpokpo Enahoro Receives Social Centre Donated by Ora-Ekpen Development Association

SABONGIDDA-ORA, Edo State — The Executive Chairman of Owan West Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Aikpokpo Enahoro, has received the Ora-Ekpen Development Association (ODA), which presented its social centre to the council for official use in support of grassroots administration and service delivery.

The presentation took place on Tuesday at the council’s administrative headquarters in Sabongidda-Ora, highlighting a community-led partnership aimed at strengthening local government operations and promoting development across Owan West.

The delegation was led by the association’s President, Noble Donatus Agbebaku. Other members included Chief Prof. J. U. Aisiku, Arah of Evbiobe; Rt. Hon. Joe Ekpenkhio, a former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly; and Chief David George, a security consultant.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the association to congratulate Enahoro on his administration’s achievements and commend its ongoing development initiatives across the local government area.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to the progress of Owan West and expressed its readiness to support the council’s development agenda through meaningful collaboration with the administration.

As part of that commitment, ODA formally offered the Ora-Ekpen Development Social Centre, located along the Sabo–Eme Road, opposite the late Solomon Arase Farm, to the council for official use.

According to the association, the facility is intended to support the council’s operational requirements and improve service delivery. It encouraged the chairman to assign appropriate council departments to the centre to ensure that the facility is put to effective use.

The association also stressed that the offer was made voluntarily, without financial demands or expectations of payment from the local government. It described the gesture as a contribution towards the development and progress of Owan West.

In his response, Enahoro expressed appreciation to the association for what he described as a demonstration of generosity, patriotism and commitment to the collective advancement of the area.

The chairman commended ODA for supporting the principle that sustainable community development is strengthened when residents, development associations and public institutions work together towards shared objectives.

He assured the delegation that his administration would continue to encourage constructive engagement and strategic partnerships with development-oriented associations and other stakeholders.

Enahoro further reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives aimed at improving institutional efficiency, advancing community development and promoting sustainable growth throughout Owan West Local Government Area.

The presentation underscores the potential of voluntary community contributions to support public institutions and complement government efforts at the grassroots level.
