‘KWARA, IMO GOVERNORS ARE WAGING WAR AGAINST ME’ — WIKE

FCT Minister accuses AbdulRazaq, Uzodinma of political attacks, insists Tinubu remains his 2027 choice

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused the governors of Kwara and Imo states, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Hope Uzodinma, of waging what he described as a political war against him.

Wike made the allegations on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, while speaking in Port Harcourt, where he addressed what he described as growing political attacks from the two governors.

The former Rivers State governor singled out Kwara Governor AbdulRazaq, alleging that he had been at the forefront of a campaign against him.

“Take for example, Kwara, he has been the one championing this campaign against me everywhere. Yes, I have confronted him too. I don’t talk about what I cannot defend,” Wike said.

According to Wike, AbdulRazaq had accused him of supporting political candidates opposed to the governor’s preferred choices in Kwara State.

The FCT minister rejected the allegation, arguing that the Kwara governor should instead acknowledge the political support he had previously received from him.

Wike also said he provided a political platform for some aggrieved APC chieftains who moved to the Peoples Democratic Party, claiming that his intervention prevented them from joining an opposition coalition against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Turning to Imo State, Wike accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of failing to reciprocate political support he said he had offered him.

“Governor Hope, he knows the support I give to him,” Wike said, while recalling that Uzodinma had at one point declined to support him.

The latest confrontation comes against the backdrop of intense political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Although Wike remains a member of the PDP, he has openly aligned himself with President Tinubu and supports the President’s bid for another term in office.

Wike insisted that his political position has never been hidden and challenged those accusing him of working against APC governors to identify what support they had provided during his own political battles.

“Any Nigerian who knows me know that I have never hidden my intention,” he said.

Despite his disagreements with the two governors, Wike maintained that the disputes would not affect his support for Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.

His latest remarks further expose the complicated political alliances emerging ahead of the 2027 elections, with Wike maintaining his membership of the opposition PDP while simultaneously backing the incumbent APC president.

The allegations by Wike represent his account of the political disputes, and the governors named in his remarks may provide their own responses.
