EDO MINING COMMISSIONER URGES OWAN PEOPLE TO BACK OKPEBHOLO’S SHINE AGENDA

Jeffery calls for unity, wider awareness of government programmes and sustained support for Edo development

The Edo State Commissioner for Mining, Hon. Iriabekhai Kayode Jeffery, has called on the people of Owan to support the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo and its SHINE Agenda, stressing the need for unity and collective participation in the development of the state.

Jeffery made the call on Wednesday in Benin City when he received members of the Association of Owan in Edo State Civil and Public Service, who paid him a courtesy visit following his appointment as Commissioner for Mining.

The Commissioner reaffirmed that Governor Okpebholo has the interests of Owan people at heart, expressing optimism that the area would continue to benefit from increased development, opportunities and meaningful government interventions under the administration.

He urged Owan people, regardless of political affiliation, to remain united and work together in the interest of the region and Edo State.

Jeffery also charged members of the association to help create greater awareness about government initiatives and programmes, saying increased public understanding and participation would enable more residents to benefit from opportunities provided by the government.

He said the development of Owan should remain a collective responsibility, requiring collaboration among traditional institutions, professionals, civil and public servants, political actors, community leaders and residents.

Earlier, the delegation, led by the Acting President of the association, Mr. Odion Daniel, congratulated Jeffery on his appointment as Commissioner.

The association described Jeffery, a son of Owan and the Ivbimior Clan, as an epitome of excellence, resilience and professionalism, while commending his commitment to the progress of Owan and service to Edo State.

The delegation expressed confidence in his ability to contribute meaningfully to the development of the mining sector and the broader economic interests of the state.

The visit culminated in the presentation of a felicitation card to the Commissioner.

In his response, Jeffery thanked the association for the visit and its continued commitment to the unity, progress and development of Owan and Edo State.
