ISAAC FAYOSE REVERSES POSITION, DECLARES PETER OBI ‘NIGERIA’S INCOMING PRESIDENT’ AFTER PRIVATE MEETING

Former Obi Critic Renews Support, Says He Is “100 Per Cent Obidient” Following Reconciliation Visit

Social commentator and businessman, Isaac Fayose, has publicly reversed his recent criticism of Peter Obi, describing the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate as Nigeria’s “incoming president” after hosting him at his residence.

The meeting comes days after Fayose accused Obi of failing to appreciate his support during the 2023 presidential campaign and threatened to withdraw his backing for the Obidient Movement.

Sharing a video of the visit on his Instagram page, Fayose warmly welcomed Obi and expressed renewed confidence in his presidential ambition.

“It’s not every day the President comes to your house. Our incoming president. So shall it be, in Jesus’ name,” Fayose said.

Addressing those who criticised him over his earlier comments, Fayose declared that he had fully renewed his support for Obi.

“For you others abusing me, you can see now, I am 100 per cent Obidient. So you better be Obidient. We are together, and we are winning,” he added.

Responding, Peter Obi dismissed many of the online attacks directed at Fayose, insisting that several of those insulting him were not genuine members of the Obidient Movement.

“Half of the people that abuse you, they don’t follow us. What they do, when they hire people, they carry them, call them all sorts of names,” Obi said.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate also stressed that constructive criticism is essential for good leadership, saying leaders must be willing to accept correction and learn from mistakes.

“Anytime you have any reason to criticise, and when we are not doing what is right, please, I want to hear that I am wrong. It is important that we do that,” Obi stated.

He added that effective leadership requires humility, continuous learning and openness to criticism.

“If he doesn’t, he shouldn’t lead. He should just go, because he thinks he knows everything. And if you know everything, you are an idiot. You shouldn’t be a leader. A listener, a learner, always,” Obi said.

Saturday’s meeting appears to have resolved the disagreement between both men after Fayose recently complained that his contributions to the Obidient Movement—including making his hotel available to supporters during the 2023 elections—were never acknowledged by Obi.

The reconciliation has now seen Fayose publicly reaffirm his support for Obi ahead of the 2027 political season.
