Rights Advocate Claims Privileged Information Supports Victim’s Account, Urges Public to Stop Victim-Blaming
Human rights activist and social commentator, Comrade Israel Joe, has publicly defended late Miss Favour Agbro, condemning what he described as widespread victim-blaming and stereotyping following allegations surrounding her encounter with a man popularly known as “Odogwu Asaba.”
In a statement shared on social media, Israel Joe said he would continue to stand by Favour Agbro, insisting that she was an innocent young woman whose only mistake was trusting someone she believed she could seek advice from.
According to him, people from different backgrounds regularly visit others in hotels for meetings, counselling, mentoring or discussions without any form of sexual misconduct occurring.
He alleged that Favour had confided that she initially rejected an invitation to Abuja but later agreed to meet the suspect in Asaba after seeking guidance.
Israel Joe further claimed to have seen conversations on Favour’s phone and alleged that the suspect admitted the sexual encounter was a mistake and expressed shock over the injuries sustained during the incident.
He also alleged that the suspect did not deny the authenticity of their conversations when confronted.
The activist urged members of the public to stop attacking the deceased, insisting that no one deserves to be judged or blamed based on assumptions.
The allegations made by Israel Joe have not been independently verified, and the individual named has not publicly responded to these specific claims at the time of filing this report.
