FUJI ICON SAYS CLOTHES, SHOES AND CHILDREN LEFT BEHIND ARE “SOUVENIRS” OF HIS RELATIONSHIPS
Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, has sparked reactions after speaking about his past relationships and the children he has had with different women.
In a statement attributed to the musician, he said he had abandoned several women and their children, adding that he sometimes left clothes and shoes in their homes as reminders of his presence.
“There are lots of women I have abandoned with their children. I do forget clothes and shoes in their houses, including any child they have for me. That is the souvenir I leave behind for them to remember me in life,” he was quoted as saying.
The comment has generated attention because of its reference to women and children left behind from previous relationships.
KWAM 1 is one of Nigeria’s prominent Fuji musicians and has remained a major figure in the country’s traditional music scene for decades.
His statement has also renewed public interest in the private life of the veteran musician, particularly his relationships, family and the responsibilities that come with having children.
While the remark was presented in a personal and seemingly humorous context, its wording has attracted debate over the way relationships, parenthood and family responsibilities are viewed in Nigerian society.
The statement has continued to generate discussion among fans and social media users, with reactions ranging from amusement to criticism.
IBN News reports that the quotation should be understood in the context in which it was made, while the identities and circumstances surrounding the women and children referenced were not established in the statement provided.
