Residents To Clean Surroundings As Government Confirms No Restriction Of Movement On Saturday
The Edo State Government has announced that the July 2026 Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise will hold on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., urging residents across the state to actively participate in keeping their communities clean and healthy.
In a special public announcement issued by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainability, the government clarified that there will be no restriction of movement during the sanitation exercise, while encouraging residents to voluntarily dedicate the period to environmental cleaning activities.
According to the ministry, individuals, households, business owners, market operators and community associations are expected to clean their surroundings, evacuate refuse, clear blocked drainage channels and dispose of waste properly in accordance with the state’s environmental sanitation laws and regulations.
The government stressed that maintaining a clean environment is a collective responsibility, noting that regular sanitation helps prevent flooding, reduces the spread of diseases, improves public health and promotes a safer and more attractive Edo State.
Residents were also reminded to avoid indiscriminate waste disposal and to support ongoing government efforts aimed at creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment for present and future generations.
The announcement was signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Hon. Nosa Adams (Esq.), who appealed for the full cooperation of all residents to ensure a successful sanitation exercise across the state.
The Ministry further encouraged citizens to make environmental cleanliness a daily habit rather than limiting it to the monthly sanitation exercise.
