Security operatives recover pistols, cut-to-size gun and machete during early morning operation in Egbaen community

Operatives of the Edo State Special Security Squad, codenamed “Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists,” have arrested four suspected cultists during an early morning raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Egbaen Community, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The operation, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, is part of ongoing efforts by the Edo State Government to tackle cultism, kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
According to security sources, the suspects were arrested during the coordinated raid, while several weapons were recovered from the hideout.

Items reportedly recovered include four locally made pistols, one cut-to-size gun, one Beretta pistol and a machete.
Although the weapons were allegedly found in the hideout, the suspects reportedly denied ownership of the firearms and other exhibits.
However, during preliminary interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity, according to the security authorities.
The arrests represent another breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on criminal gangs and cult groups operating in different parts of Edo State.
The state government has repeatedly pledged to strengthen security operations and dismantle criminal networks responsible for violent crimes and insecurity.
Security agencies have also intensified intelligence-led operations, raids and patrols across identified flashpoints as part of efforts to restore public safety.
The suspects are expected to remain in custody while investigations continue to determine their level of involvement in alleged cult-related and other criminal activities.
Authorities have also indicated that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other suspected members linked to the group.
The Edo State Special Security Squad has continued to carry out operations under its mandate to combat kidnapping, cultism and other violent crimes, with several arrests and recoveries recorded in recent weeks.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies to support ongoing operations across the state.
IBN News reports that the suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations if sufficient evidence is established against them.
