Party Leadership Says Candidate Upload Demonstrates Commitment to 2027 Elections as Authenticity Awaits Official Confirmation
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has claimed that it has successfully uploaded the names of its presidential, vice-presidential and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The claim was contained in a statement dated July 12, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe.
According to the statement, the submission demonstrates the party’s commitment to protecting the interests of its founding and legacy members while reaffirming its resolve to field credible, competent and people-centred candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The statement added that the party remains focused on providing purposeful leadership, promoting good governance and restoring hope to Nigerians.
An image circulating online, purportedly showing an INEC candidate submission form, lists Prof. Chris Uba as the ADC’s presidential candidate and Dr. Shamsuddin Modibbo Barkindo as the party’s vice-presidential candidate.
The document also bears the names of the African Democratic Congress and appears to contain signatures attributed to the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary.
However, as of the time of filing this report, INEC has not publicly confirmed the authenticity of the circulating document or the reported submission. The image alone does not independently verify that the submission has been accepted by the electoral commission.
The development comes amid ongoing political activities and leadership disputes involving some political parties as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
IBN News will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more information becomes available.
