Lagos, Nigeria — Fatai Okoya, a man who identifies himself as the first son of Nigerian billionaire industrialist Chief Razaq Akanni Okoya, has reportedly appealed to his father for forgiveness and reconciliation after more than four decades of alleged estrangement.
The appeal was contained in an open letter purportedly written by Fatai and addressed to the founder of Eleganza Group. The letter has attracted public attention following its circulation online.
In the letter, Fatai expressed regret over the years they had allegedly spent apart and appealed to his father to give their relationship another chance.
“Dad, it has been over four decades, and I am speaking from the deepest part of my heart when I say, I am truly sorry,” the letter stated.
He said he had made efforts over the years to reach out to his father and restore their relationship, adding that he hoped they could move beyond the past and rebuild their bond.
Fatai also appealed for forgiveness, understanding and a fresh beginning, stressing that the years already lost could not be recovered.
“You will always be my father, and I will always be your first child,” he wrote, expressing his willingness to take the first step towards reconciliation whenever his father was ready.
However, the authenticity of the letter and Fatai’s claimed identity as Okoya’s first son have not been independently verified.
The development comes amid renewed public interest in the family of the prominent industrialist, who has previously spoken about the different career paths chosen by some of his older children.
Okoya, the founder of Eleganza Group, is one of Nigeria’s best-known businessmen, with interests in manufacturing and other sectors.
The reported appeal has brought attention to the personal challenges that can arise within families, particularly where relationships have remained strained for extended periods.
