POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED GUN RUNNER, RECOVER 10 LIVE CARTRIDGES; SUSPECTED ADULTERATED DRINKS SEIZED IN WARRI

DELTA POLICE RAID SUSPECTED AMMUNITION SUPPLY CHAIN, UNCOVER WAREHOUSE OF SUSPECTED ADULTERATED BEVERAGES

The Delta State Police Command has recorded operational breakthroughs in Agbor and Warri, leading to the arrest of two suspects, recovery of 10 live cartridges and the interception of quantities of beverages suspected to be adulterated.

The Command disclosed this in a press statement issued on Sunday, August 23, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

In Agbor, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit, SAKU, Ubulu-Uku, arrested a 28-year-old woman identified as Happiness Clifford over alleged involvement in gun-running activities in Ika South Local Government Area.

The Police said the arrest followed credible intelligence received by its operatives.

A search of the suspect’s hideout reportedly led to the recovery of 10 live cartridges concealed inside a bucket.

During preliminary investigation, the Police said the suspect allegedly identified her husband, one Clifford Okoro, as a major supplier of the ammunition.

The Command said efforts have been intensified to apprehend Okoro as investigation continues into the alleged ammunition supply network.

The Police did not state that any firearm was recovered during the operation, but the recovery of live cartridges has raised further questions about their source, intended destination and possible links to criminal activities.

Authorities are expected to establish whether the recovered ammunition was meant for a particular individual, criminal group or wider network.

In a separate operation in Warri, Police operatives intercepted a Toyota Sienna carrying beverages suspected to be adulterated.

The interception occurred on August 17, 2026, along the Warri–Agbarho Expressway during a stop-and-search operation conducted by SAKU operatives in the area.

According to the Police, the vehicle was conveying quantities of a product identified as “Gbefun Hot Drink.”

The product was suspected to be adulterated.

The 44-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested for questioning.

Further investigation reportedly led Police operatives to a warehouse at Lower Ginuwa, Warri.

Police said additional quantities of the suspected adulterated drink were discovered at the warehouse, alongside other beverages.

A Suzuki Shuttle bus loaded with similar products was also recovered.

The suspected operators of the warehouse, however, reportedly fled after sighting the Police.

The Command said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and determine the source and distribution network of the products.

The development has raised concerns over the movement of suspected adulterated beverages within the state, particularly because such products could pose serious risks to consumers if they are eventually confirmed to be unsafe.

However, the allegation of adulteration remains subject to proper investigation and appropriate testing by the relevant authorities.

The Police have not disclosed the exact quantity of beverages recovered from the vehicle and warehouse.

They also did not disclose the identity of the arrested driver.

The two separate operations underline the continuing security and public safety challenges facing Delta State.

While the Agbor operation focused on suspected ammunition trafficking, the Warri operation targeted the movement of products suspected to have been adulterated.

For the ammunition case, investigators will now have to establish where the 10 live cartridges came from, who they were intended for and whether other people are involved in the alleged supply chain.

The allegation against Clifford Okoro is also still under investigation. He has not been reported arrested and has not publicly responded to the allegation attributed to the arrested suspect.

In the Warri case, investigators will similarly have to establish who manufactured or supplied the suspected adulterated products, where they were being distributed and whether other individuals or businesses are connected to the operation.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives involved in both operations.

He directed that investigations be pursued diligently and that all persons connected with the cases be identified and apprehended where evidence establishes their involvement.

The Commissioner also urged residents to continue providing the Police with credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime and protecting the public.

The Police Command said investigations into both cases are ongoing.

IBN NEWS will continue to follow the developments as investigators work to uncover the full networks behind the suspected ammunition supply and the distribution of the suspected adulterated beverages.
