Concerns Grow Over Failed Section At Mosogar Junction As Road Users Endure Lengthy Traffic Delays
Residents and motorists using the Mosogar Road in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State have renewed calls for urgent intervention following prolonged gridlock caused by the deteriorating condition of a failed section of the road at Mosogar Junction.
The renewed concerns come amid growing frustration over the hardship faced by commuters, commercial drivers and businesses relying on the busy route.
A public affairs commentator, reacting to the situation, said he had earlier urged the Ethiope West Local Government Council to carry out remedial work on the failed portion of the road before the ongoing federal road construction reached Mosogar.
According to him, some members of the public opposed the suggestion, arguing that the road is under the control of the Federal Government and therefore outside the responsibility of the local government.
However, with traffic congestion now stretching for days, he questioned who bears the real burden of the deteriorating road conditions, stressing that it is ordinary residents and motoristsānot the Federal Governmentāwho suffer the consequences.
He further argued that all tiers of government have responsibilities to protect public welfare and should collaborate to address urgent infrastructure challenges, regardless of which level of government has primary ownership of a road.
Motorists and residents have appealed to the relevant authorities to take immediate action to restore smooth traffic flow and ease the hardship experienced by thousands of road users travelling through the area.
IBN News will continue to monitor developments on the situation.
