Governor Says “War Is Over” As He Urges Supporters To Back President Tinubu, Rainbow Coalition Candidates
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has formally declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition, the political movement led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Fubara made the declaration on Tuesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private pharmaceutical manufacturing project in Rivers State.
Addressing supporters and stakeholders, the governor announced that he had reunited with the political family led by Wike and called on all his loyalists to support every candidate presented by the Rainbow Coalition.
“I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and he is the one we are supporting. The governorship candidate is the candidate I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition,” Fubara stated.
He dismissed calls for him to delay joining the coalition, insisting that his decision had already been made.
“I am already in the family. I have returned to our family. Give your total support to the coalition. The time of war is over; it is now time for peace, and that peace will take us to another level,” he added.
The governor also pledged not to be involved in any political activities capable of creating fresh divisions in Rivers State.
“I am not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. We have done what we need to do, and now we are moving forward,” he said.
Speaking on the Riven Medical Facility project, Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting strategic private-sector investments that would drive industrialisation, create employment opportunities and strengthen healthcare delivery in Rivers State.
He disclosed that the first phase of the pharmaceutical factory is expected to be completed within three months, expressing confidence that the project would position Rivers State as a major hub for the production of medical consumables while attracting additional investments into the state.
Governor Fubara also assured investors of his administration’s support and urged host communities to cooperate fully to ensure the successful completion and operation of the facility.
His endorsement of President Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition is expected to reshape the political landscape in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections, following months of political tension between rival camps.
