Business reportedly collapsed after loan was taken, leaving married man battling severe financial pressure
A 40-year-old man identified as Ogbeni Goggo has reportedly died by suicide in the Ebrumede/DSC Roundabout area of Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, following alleged financial difficulties linked to a failed business venture.
According to a report by Comrade Israel Joe, Goggo reportedly obtained a ₦1.8 million loan to finance a business, but the venture allegedly failed, leaving him under serious financial pressure.
The deceased was reportedly married for about three years and had no child.
The tragedy reportedly began after Goggo failed to return home on Wednesday, causing concern among his wife, relatives and friends.
Around midnight, he allegedly sent messages to some friends and family members suggesting that he was tired of life and was considering ending his life.
Concerned relatives reportedly attempted to contact him, but their efforts were unsuccessful as his phone could no longer be reached.
His wife and other family members subsequently began searching for him on Thursday.
The search continued until Friday morning when his wife reportedly went to the Ebrumede Police Station to report him missing.
According to the report, police officers subsequently showed her a photograph of a deceased man who had been found around the Ebrumede Flyover/DSC Roundabout area.
The woman reportedly identified the deceased as her husband.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain deeply disturbing, particularly the reported messages sent to friends and family shortly before he was found.
According to the account, people who were around the scene reportedly raised an alarm and attempted to offer assistance before the police arrived.
His remains were subsequently evacuated and deposited at a mortuary in Agbaro.
