2027: Obi Says Good Governance Begins With Voter Registration
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections, Peter Obi, has urged eligible Nigerians to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise, describing it as the foundation of good governance and democratic participation.
Obi made the appeal after paying impromptu visits to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter registration centres at the Civic Centre in Nibo and Nrijiofor Primary School in Nri, Anambra State.
According to him, he was encouraged by the number of Nigerians who turned out to register and took the opportunity to commend them for exercising their civic responsibility.
He stressed that the journey to good governance does not begin on election day but with voter registration, noting that obtaining a Permanent Voter Card (PVC) is an investment in the country’s future.
Obi called on all eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to do so before the deadline, while urging those who have already completed the process to encourage their family members, friends, neighbours and colleagues to participate.
He maintained that every registered voter strengthens Nigeria’s democracy and moves the nation closer to achieving a secure, united, productive and prosperous society.
Obi concluded with his familiar message: “A New Nigeria is POssible.”
