IRAN WAR WILL EXPAND FURTHER IF US RESUMES ATTACKS, IRANIAN ARMY WARNS

Tehran Says It Is Prepared for Possible US Military Action as Netanyahu Heads to Washington for Talks With Trump

Iran’s military has warned that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East could expand geographically if the United States resumes attacks against the Islamic Republic, amid heightened tensions ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s planned meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington.

Iranian Army spokesman, Mohammad Akraminia, issued the warning on Sunday, saying Tehran was prepared for different scenarios should Washington decide to renew military action against Iran.

He said any decision by the United States to continue the conflict, particularly through air strikes, could trigger a broader regional confrontation.

“I believe that if the Americans once again fall for the Zionists’ deception, or move in line with them, and insist on continuing the war, particularly through air strikes, geographically this will expand further,” Akraminia said in comments broadcast on Iranian state television.

The warning comes against the backdrop of continuing military tensions involving Iran, Israel, the United States and Iran-backed armed groups operating in the wider Middle East.

According to the Iranian military spokesman, the conflict has already expanded beyond the immediate theatre of hostilities, with the Bab al-Mandab Strait and other strategic areas becoming increasingly affected by the wider confrontation.

Akraminia referenced the recent military escalation involving Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement and Saudi Arabia, saying the geographical scope of Iran’s operations now extends across a significant portion of the region.

“The scope of our operations now encompasses the entire region, from US bases in Jordan to the countries along the Persian Gulf,” he said.

He further claimed that the circumstances facing the United States in the Middle East had become increasingly difficult and unsettled, suggesting that Washington was now considering alternative strategies.

“We are prepared for each of the options and scenarios that appear likely,” the Iranian army spokesman added.

Netanyahu Heads to Washington

The Iranian warning comes just ahead of a planned meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump at the White House.

Netanyahu is expected to travel to Washington on Monday ahead of his Tuesday meeting with the American president.

The visit comes at a particularly sensitive moment in relations between Washington and Tel Aviv, with differences reportedly emerging over the direction of the military confrontation with Iran and whether continued military pressure or renewed diplomacy offers the best path forward.

Netanyahu and Trump have maintained a close political relationship, with the Israeli leader previously describing the US president as one of Israel’s strongest supporters in the White House.

However, disagreements over the handling of the Iran conflict have increasingly become visible, particularly regarding the balance between military action and diplomatic negotiations.

Trump has previously indicated that Netanyahu understands that the US president ultimately makes the final decisions regarding American policy.

The latest meeting therefore comes at a critical moment, as the possibility of renewed US military action against Iran remains a major concern for regional governments and the international community.

Iran Says It Is Prepared for Further Escalation

Iran has continued to project an image of military readiness, warning that any new US attack would attract a response.

The latest statement from the Iranian Army suggests that Tehran believes a renewed American air campaign could trigger a much wider conflict involving multiple countries and armed groups across the Middle East.

The warning is particularly significant because of the strategic importance of the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait to global energy supplies and international shipping.

Any substantial escalation around these strategic waterways could have consequences beyond the immediate region, potentially affecting commercial shipping, energy markets, insurance costs and international trade.

The Iranian military’s reference to US bases in Jordan and countries around the Persian Gulf also highlights the potential vulnerability of American military installations and allied countries should hostilities intensify.

US-Israel Relationship Under Pressure

While Washington and Tel Aviv remain closely aligned on several major strategic issues, the handling of the Iran conflict has exposed differences between the two governments.

The relationship reportedly reached one of its more difficult points during negotiations surrounding an earlier US-Iran ceasefire, which has since collapsed.

The disagreement reflects a broader question facing both governments: whether the conflict can be resolved through sustained military pressure or whether diplomacy should take a more prominent role.

For Israel, preventing Iran from developing or maintaining capabilities perceived as a threat to its national security remains a central concern.

For Iran, meanwhile, continued American and Israeli military pressure is viewed as an attempt to weaken its regional influence and military capabilities.

Regional Conflict Raises Wider Concerns

The latest developments have heightened concerns that the Middle East conflict could evolve into a broader regional war.

The involvement of Iran-backed groups in different parts of the region has already created multiple potential fronts, while the strategic importance of the Persian Gulf and Red Sea means that further escalation could have international consequences.

Countries in the region are also facing the challenge of protecting their populations and critical infrastructure while attempting to avoid being directly drawn into the confrontation.

For the international community, the possibility of attacks affecting shipping routes and energy infrastructure remains a major concern.

The situation also carries diplomatic implications for countries that maintain relations with both Washington and Tehran.

A Dangerous Moment for the Middle East

The latest warning from Tehran underscores the fragile nature of the current situation.

While Iran has declared its readiness to respond to any renewed attack, the United States and Israel have continued to weigh their military and diplomatic options.

Netanyahu’s meeting with Trump could therefore become an important moment in determining the next phase of the conflict.

Whether the meeting produces a renewed diplomatic initiative, greater military coordination or another strategy remains uncertain.

What is clear, however, is that Tehran is warning Washington that another round of American attacks could carry consequences well beyond Iran’s borders.

The international community will now closely watch developments in Washington and across the Middle East as leaders assess whether the region moves toward de-escalation or a potentially wider confrontation.
