ICPC QUESTIONS GBAJABIAMILA OVER ALLEGED PFIPC SCANDAL

Tinubu’s Chief of Staff Honours ICPC Invitation, Returns to Duties After Questioning

The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has appeared before the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as part of the ongoing investigation into the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Gbajabiamila honoured the invitation on Monday at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja, where investigators questioned him over matters relating to the alleged activities of the controversial agency.

His lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed that the presidential aide fully cooperated with the anti-graft agency and returned to his official duties after the session.

According to Ogunye, Gbajabiamila appeared before investigators at about 3:00 p.m. on Monday in compliance with the directive of President Bola Tinubu.

“In full cooperation with the ICPC, acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and appeared at about 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others,” Ogunye stated.

He added that Gbajabiamila gave his testimony, answered questions from investigators and subsequently returned to his duty post.

The development comes as the ICPC intensifies its investigation into the alleged illegal establishment and operations of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier directed the anti-corruption agency to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the controversy following allegations surrounding the agency’s operations.

The directive, announced on July 2 by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, mandated the ICPC to conclude its investigation and submit a comprehensive report within 30 days.

The investigation has already seen several government officials and institutions appearing before the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee and the ICPC as authorities continue efforts to determine the legality of the agency’s establishment and whether public funds were improperly utilised.
