Reps Fault MDAs For Failing To Honour Summons As Investigation Deepens
The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has summoned the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to appear before it over the operations and legal status of the council.
The committee, chaired by Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, also expressed dissatisfaction with the failure of several Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to honour its summons, describing the absence of key government officials as a setback to the ongoing investigation.
Lawmakers criticised the absence of the Minister of Finance, who was represented by a ministry official, insisting that invited officials must appear in person before the committee or face further legislative action.
According to the committee, the appearance of the Foreign Affairs Minister and the National Security Adviser will help lawmakers determine how the PFIPC operated despite concerns over its legitimacy.
The House panel reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability as it continues its investigation into the activities of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
