Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku praises music icon’s achievements as both personalities attend the burial reception of Israel Afeare’s late father in Edo State.
The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku, has commended Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, for his remarkable contributions to the entertainment industry and for consistently projecting Nigeria positively on the global stage.
The Speaker made the remarks after meeting the award-winning artiste earlier in Benin City on the sidelines of the burial reception of the late father of Davido’s logistics manager, Israel Afeare, popularly known as Israel DMW.
The event attracted an array of dignitaries, political office holders, traditional rulers, business leaders, entertainers, friends, family members and well-wishers who gathered to honour the memory of the deceased and celebrate a life well lived.
Speaking after the encounter, Rt. Hon. Agbebaku described the meeting with Davido as a delightful opportunity to exchange warm greetings and share a few moments of cordial interaction.
According to the Speaker, Davido has continued to distinguish himself not only through his outstanding musical accomplishments but also through his creativity, philanthropy and positive representation of Nigeria on the international stage.
He said the singer’s success story remains an inspiration to millions of young Nigerians, demonstrating that talent, discipline, hard work, consistency and resilience can create opportunities for global recognition and excellence.
Agbebaku stressed that Nigerians should continue to celebrate individuals who excel in their respective fields, noting that recognising excellence motivates younger generations to pursue their dreams with dedication and integrity.
“Our youths deserve role models who demonstrate that talent, discipline, hard work and resilience can open doors to global relevance,” the Speaker stated.
He further commended Davido for consistently flying the Nigerian flag high through his music and humanitarian activities, describing him as one of Nigeria’s foremost cultural ambassadors.
The Speaker prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the singer and wished him greater achievements in his career, expressing confidence that he would continue to make Edo State and Nigeria proud.
The burial reception was held in honour of the late father of Israel Afeare (Israel DMW), who hails from Era Community in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State. The occasion brought together sons and daughters of Edo State, alongside guests from different parts of Nigeria, in a solemn but colourful celebration of the deceased’s life and legacy.
Rt. Hon. Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku is an indigene of Uhonmora in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, while Israel Afeare is from Era in Owan East Local Government Area. Owan East and Owan West are the two local government areas predominantly occupied by the indigenous Owan people of Edo State, highlighting the shared cultural heritage reflected during the gathering.
