CP Erale hosts 63 Brigade commander in Asaba, calls for intelligence sharing and coordinated operations
The Delta State Police Command has called for closer collaboration with the Nigerian Army as security agencies prepare for the forthcoming election period in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, made the call when he received the Commander, 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Commander, Sector 1, South-South, Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier General Ibrahim Buhari, during a courtesy visit to the command headquarters in Asaba.
Buhari congratulated Erale on his assumption of office as Delta State Commissioner of Police and assured him of the brigade’s continued cooperation.
The Brigade Commander noted that the Police and Army had worked together on several security operations in Delta State and stressed the need to sustain the relationship through regular communication, intelligence sharing and mutual support.
Responding, Erale said the nature of security challenges in Delta State made collaboration between the Police, military and other security agencies essential.
The Commissioner described the two institutions as having different responsibilities but a common objective of maintaining security and public safety.
Erale particularly highlighted the approaching election period, saying it would require closer coordination between the security agencies.
He called for continued intelligence sharing, open communication and operational support between the Police and 63 Brigade to address emerging security threats and maintain peace before, during and after the elections.
The meeting comes as security agencies across the country intensify preparations for election-related security operations, with inter-agency coordination expected to play a key role in preventing violence and responding to security incidents.
The Delta State Police Command said it remains committed to working with the military and other relevant security agencies to tackle crime and maintain public safety across the state.
