The Executive Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Hon. Robert Akande Olumole, has commenced the measurement, assessment and evaluation of government-owned facilities across the council area as part of plans to renovate and reconstruct critical infrastructure.
The exercise, which covered the local government’s 10 wards, is aimed at identifying facilities requiring urgent intervention and implementing infrastructure projects ahead of the administration’s first 100 days in office.
At Ekor Primary School, after Ibillo, the Chairman, represented by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Benedict Dada Obayemi, said the assessment was part of efforts to fulfil the administration’s commitment to executing life-touching projects across the wards.
He said similar interventions would be extended to communities across Akoko-Edo as part of the administration’s broader infrastructure renewal programme.
The inspection team also visited the Ekpedo Gully site in Ward Nine, where plans were outlined for the construction of a two-box culvert with side drains, as well as a box culvert on the Oloruntobi Access Road.

At Ekpe in Ward Three, the council chairman directed the renovation of the Primary Healthcare Centre and staff quarters as part of measures to improve healthcare infrastructure in the area.
The administration also ordered the construction of a perimeter fence with two large gates at Ereshia Primary School in Makeke.
In Ososo, Ward 10, the team assessed the Primary Healthcare Centre, with plans made for renovation following identified structural defects. The council also said obsolete and non-functional medical equipment would be replaced to improve healthcare delivery.
Meanwhile, the Akande administration said work on the ongoing road construction project in Ogugu Community and surrounding areas had been intensified, with the aim of improving access and transportation for residents.
The council said the ongoing assessment would guide the prioritisation of renovation, reconstruction and other infrastructure projects across Akoko-Edo.
