Soldiers Kill ISWAP Cameraman, Uncover Alleged Foreign Terrorist Trainer, Doctor in Borno

Military Says Recovered Video Reveals Alleged Palestinian Trainer, Moroccan Doctor Linked to ISWAP Operations

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed an alleged Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) cameraman and recovered video materials that the military says revealed the presence of three foreign facilitators operating within the terrorist group in Borno State.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammed Goni, the operation followed a failed infiltration attempt by suspected ISWAP fighters into Cross Kauwa, Kukawa Local Government Area.

The military said the terrorists attempted to exploit the cover of darkness on Saturday night to breach troops’ positions and allegedly loot cholera medical supplies.

Capt. Goni stated that vigilant troops detected the movement at about 10:20 p.m. and responded with coordinated firepower, forcing the attackers to retreat after reportedly suffering heavy casualties.

During exploitation operations, troops recovered a Sony camcorder, ammunition, terrorist uniforms and other combat items.

According to the military, preliminary forensic analysis of the recovered camera showed operational footage and propaganda materials allegedly identifying three foreign facilitators linked to ISWAP. The military claimed the individuals include a Palestinian Arab identified as Abu Ishaq, described as the group’s trainer, a Moroccan Arab identified as Abu Thaiba, who allegedly serves as a medical doctor, and another unidentified Arab operative.

The military said the findings reinforce intelligence suggesting that ISWAP continues to receive external support and specialist expertise through transnational terrorist networks.

Operation Hadin Kai also stated that intelligence and satellite imagery indicated that the terrorists evacuated the bodies of some of their fighters after the failed attack, while several others reportedly sustained gunshot wounds.

The military disclosed that two soldiers were wounded during the exchange of fire and were evacuated by air for medical treatment. They were said to be in stable condition.

Capt. Goni said the attempted attack further supports recent intelligence reports suggesting a cholera outbreak within terrorist camps and alleged internal executions of infected members.

He reaffirmed that Operation Hadin Kai remains committed to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups, protecting vulnerable communities and restoring lasting peace across the North-East.

The military’s claims have not been independently verified.
