The Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State, has ordered Prophet Tamarauebi Elijah Owan of GreatGod Holy Tabernacle to rebuild the Osuopele traditional shrine in Ojobo, Burutu Local Government Area, and pay a total of ₦205 million in damages over its demolition.
The judgment, delivered by Justice H.A. Nganjiwa on June 29, 2026, followed a suit filed by adherents of the Osuopele shrine after the temple was demolished during a religious crusade on December 20, 2024.

According to the claim before the court, Prophet Owan and members of his ministry allegedly demolished the traditional shrine without authorisation while conducting an evangelical outreach in Ojobo community.
Rather than resort to self-help, adherents of the Osuopele shrine instituted legal proceedings against the prophet and his ministry, seeking redress through the courts.
In its judgment, the court ordered Prophet Owan to rebuild the demolished shrine and awarded ₦205 million in damages to the claimants.
Ojobo is located in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
IBN News has not independently reviewed the court judgment. Further details, including the court’s full reasoning and whether the defendants intend to appeal the decision, were not immediately available.
