Woman Appeals to Armed Robbers Who Allegedly Raided Parents’ Home, Raped 17-Year-Old

Woman says attackers stole valuables and money, allegedly sexually assaulted teenager and attempted to rape her late brother’s widow

BENIN CITY, EDO STATE — A Nigerian woman has made an emotional public appeal to a group of armed men she alleges invaded her parents’ home on Palace Road, Benin City, stole valuables and money, and sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl during the attack.

The woman, identified online as the source of a video shared by the social media account @anabelparadise100, spoke emotionally about the alleged incident and described the devastating impact it had on her family.

According to her account, the incident occurred at her parents’ residence on Palace Road, Benin City, during the early hours of the morning.

She alleged that three or four men invaded the house at about 2:00 a.m. and remained there for several hours before leaving around 6:00 a.m.

The woman claimed the attackers stole her mother’s properties and money during the operation.

She further alleged that the men took ₦280,000 belonging to her late brother’s widow, who operates a Point-of-Sale business, before allegedly sexually assaulting her.

One of the most serious allegations made in the video concerns a 17-year-old girl who, according to the woman, had been staying with or assisting her mother.

The woman alleged that the teenager was raped during the attack.

She said the girl had recently completed secondary school and was still experiencing physical effects from the alleged assault.

The woman also alleged that the attackers attempted to rape her late brother’s widow but were unsuccessful.

According to her account, the men threatened members of the household before leaving, leaving her mother, her late brother’s widow and the children deeply traumatised.

The woman repeatedly condemned the alleged attackers and appealed to them to return the family’s stolen belongings and apologise.

She also warned those she believes were responsible against approaching or further harming members of her family.

The video has attracted attention online because of the seriousness of the allegations and the emotional account given by the woman.

However, IBN News has not independently verified the identities of the alleged attackers, the circumstances of the reported incident, the alleged thefts or the sexual-assault claims. The information currently available is based on the woman’s account in the circulating video and should not be treated as an established finding of fact.

The allegation involving the 17-year-old is particularly serious and would require appropriate investigation by law-enforcement authorities and other competent institutions.

The circumstances described by the woman also highlight the vulnerability of families during violent home invasions and the need for victims of sexual violence to receive prompt medical attention, psychological support and appropriate legal protection.

Where allegations of rape or attempted rape are reported, a proper investigation and preservation of relevant evidence are important in establishing what occurred and identifying any persons responsible.

The woman said the incident had devastated her family and appealed for the stolen property to be returned.

IBN News reports that the claims circulating online remain allegations pending independent confirmation or an official statement from the police or another competent authority.

Anyone with information capable of helping establish the circumstances of the reported attack should provide such information to the appropriate security authorities rather than taking the law into their own hands.
