Former Anambra governor says education, healthcare and human capital development remain central to his vision for a new Nigeria
Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has arrived in Nigeria from London and proceeded to Kaduna, where he visited the Sheikh Muhammad Sambo Memorial Islamic Institute in Rigachikun.
Obi said he arrived in Abuja aboard an Air Peace flight which landed 20 minutes ahead of schedule before travelling to Kaduna.
During the visit, he toured the Islamic institute, which he said he had visited twice previously and supported in his personal capacity.
He expressed satisfaction with the institution’s progress, particularly its effort to combine Islamic education with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
Obi described the approach as a form of holistic education capable of giving young Nigerians strong values alongside the knowledge and skills needed to compete in a changing world.
He reiterated his commitment to education and healthcare investment, human capital development, job creation and poverty reduction.
According to him, every Nigerian, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, region or political affiliation, should have a sense of belonging and equal stake in the country.
“A New Nigeria is possible,” Obi said.
