Vehicle stolen during robbery at ADC chairman’s residence recovered in New Benin as police detain suspect accused of repeatedly abusing six-year-old stepdaughter

The Edo State Police Command has recovered the second Toyota Highlander stolen during the September 6 robbery at the residence of the State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Hon. Kennedy Odion, in Benin City.

The black Toyota Highlander, with registration number LSR 729 HY, was recovered by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit along 3rd Cemetery Street, off New Lagos Road, in the New Benin area following what the police described as credible intelligence.
The recovery comes days after the command announced the recovery of another vehicle stolen during the same robbery.

Police said investigations into the robbery remain ongoing, with operatives still working to recover other items allegedly taken during the incident and identify and arrest those responsible.
In a separate development, the command has arrested a 57-year-old man, Kadiri Edenokun, from Jattu, Auchi, over the alleged defilement of his six-year-old stepdaughter.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly admitted during interrogation to committing the offence on multiple occasions.
The child is currently receiving medical treatment under the care of the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs.
The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Patrick Daaor, said the command would continue to pursue cases involving sexual violence, particularly those involving children, and urged parents and members of the public to remain vigilant.
The police also appealed for credible information that could assist ongoing investigations into both cases.
