ENAHORO, CSP OSAIGBORO PRINCE WILL REAFFIRM COMMITMENT TO CRIME PREVENTION, PEACE AND COMMUNITY SECURITY

SABONGIDA-ORA — The Executive Chairman of Owan West Local Government Council, Hon. Aikpokpo Enahoro, KSC, has called for stronger collaboration between the local government and the Nigeria Police Force to confront security challenges and strengthen the protection of lives and property across the eleven wards of Owan West Local Government Area.
Enahoro made the call on Tuesday when he received the Divisional Police Officer of Sabongida-Ora, CSP Osaigboro Prince Will, at the Owan West Local Government Secretariat.
The meeting focused on strengthening the working relationship between the Local Government Council and the Police Command, particularly in addressing security concerns affecting residents and communities across the area.
The Council Chairman emphasised the critical role of security agencies in maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property and creating an environment capable of supporting peace, economic activities and sustainable development.
Enahoro stressed that security remained a major responsibility that required sustained cooperation between government authorities, security agencies, community leaders and residents.
He said the Local Government Council was committed to building and maintaining a strong working relationship with the police and other relevant security agencies to enhance crime prevention and promote peace across Owan West.
The Chairman also called for sustained security operations and effective intelligence gathering to prevent criminal activities and respond promptly to threats within communities.
According to him, peace and security are fundamental to the social and economic development of Owan West Local Government Area.
He maintained that residents could only fully pursue their businesses, farming and other legitimate activities when they were confident that their communities were safe.
The Chairman therefore urged continued cooperation between the council and the police command in strengthening security across all eleven wards of the local government area.
Responding, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Osaigboro Prince Will, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the protection of lives and property in Sabongida-Ora and surrounding communities.
The DPO said the police would continue to pursue proactive policing, effective community engagement, intelligence-driven operations and intensified patrols as part of efforts to deter criminal activities and maintain peace.
CSP Osaigboro emphasised the importance of cooperation between the police, government institutions and members of the public, noting that effective policing requires timely information and active community participation.
He reiterated the commitment of the Sabongida-Ora Police Division to working with relevant stakeholders to identify security threats and prevent criminal activities before they escalate.
The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to a stronger partnership between the Owan West Local Government Council and the Nigeria Police Force.
The Chairman and the DPO agreed on the need for continued collaboration in promoting peace, strengthening security and creating an enabling environment for socio-economic development across Owan West Local Government Area.
The renewed partnership comes as local authorities increasingly seek stronger cooperation with security agencies and communities in addressing emerging security challenges.
The Local Government Council said it remained committed to supporting initiatives aimed at ensuring that residents across Owan West can live and conduct their lawful activities in an atmosphere of peace and security.
