Initiative Aims to Strengthen Transparency, Accountability and Ethical Governance in Public Service
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the establishment of Integrity and Compliance Desk Officers across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability and efficient service delivery in the state.
The approval was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Open Government Partnership (OGP) and Accountability Policies, Musaddiq Kabir Adam.
According to the statement, the initiative will be coordinated through the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Office and is designed to institutionalise ethical standards, strengthen compliance mechanisms and promote integrity in public administration across Kano State.
The government said the reform aligns with the administration’s commitment to openness, transparency, accountability and responsiveness, in line with the principles of the Open Government Partnership and its broader governance agenda.
The statement noted that the creation of the Integrity and Compliance Desk Officers would improve adherence to existing laws, regulations and administrative procedures while encouraging ethical conduct among public servants.
It added that the initiative is expected to enhance public confidence in government institutions by promoting professionalism, accountability and improved service delivery across all state MDAs.
The Kano State Government reaffirmed its determination to build a transparent, accountable and people-centred public service, describing the reform as another step towards positioning the state as a model of good governance through practical institutional reforms.
