Ministry Pledges Fair Hearing, Transparent Mediation Over Contested Mining-Related Land Ownership
The Edo State Ministry of Mining has reaffirmed its commitment to the peaceful resolution of mining-related land disputes following an engagement with representatives of Asagba Community over a disputed parcel of land.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Omoruyi Ese Martina, said the meeting was convened in response to concerns surrounding a parcel of land allegedly sold to two different individuals.
Addressing members of the community, Mrs. Martina assured all parties that the Ministry would handle the matter with fairness, transparency and impartiality to ensure justice and promote lasting peace.

The Permanent Secretary disclosed that the Ministry would invite all individuals involved in the disputed land transaction to appear before it for a comprehensive hearing, where each party would be given the opportunity to present its claims before a decision is reached.
She reiterated that the Edo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, remains committed to promoting peace, protecting legitimate investments and ensuring that disputes arising from mining activities are resolved through lawful, transparent and amicable processes.
Representatives of the Asagba Community thanked the Ministry for its prompt intervention and pledged their full cooperation with the mediation process, expressing confidence that the engagement would lead to a fair and peaceful resolution of the dispute.
