BREAKING: Peter Obi Says He May Not Be Alive to Contest 2027, Alleges Government Harassment

Former Labour Party Presidential Candidate Claims Opposition Figures Are Being Targeted

The 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said he may not be alive to contest the 2027 general election, alleging that the government is deliberately frustrating his activities and targeting opposition figures.

Speaking during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Obi claimed that virtually every aspect of his public and private engagements has been obstructed.

“I might not even be alive. Every single thing I do for a living, this government is frustrating it. There is even a possibility, if they have the opportunity, I will not be alive,” Obi said.

While insisting he was not making a direct accusation, the former Anambra State governor alleged that the government’s influence could be seen in many of the challenges he faces.

Obi further claimed that opposition politicians are being personally targeted and denied privileges they are ordinarily entitled to.

He cited an incident at an airport where he alleged officials locked his vehicle while leaving other vehicles untouched, despite identifying himself.

According to Obi, some associates now avoid greeting him publicly for fear of being associated with him, while others have reportedly pleaded with him not to attend family events to avoid attracting unwanted attention.

As of the time of filing this report, the Federal Government had not responded to Obi’s allegations, and no evidence was publicly presented to substantiate the claims made during the interview.

IBN News will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more reactions emerge.
