CIVIL SERVICE BOSS TASKS HOUSING LOANS BOARD ON SIMPLER PROCEDURES, AFFORDABLE FINANCING FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mr Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, has directed the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB) to simplify access to affordable housing finance for eligible Federal Government workers.
Abel gave the directive when the management of the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board paid a courtesy visit to his office.
The development was disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday by the Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit of the FGSHLB, Obiechina Ngozi.
The HCSF urged the board to simplify its procedures, eliminate unnecessary bureaucratic bottlenecks and adopt more responsive approaches to the administration of housing loans.
According to him, improving access to housing finance would enhance the welfare of public servants while supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to promote home ownership among workers.
Abel also stressed the importance of ensuring that the board’s housing finance schemes remained affordable and accessible to eligible Federal Public Servants.
Responding, the Executive Secretary of the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board, Hajiya Salamatu Ladi Ahmed, thanked the HCSF for his guidance and assured him of the board’s commitment to improving access to affordable housing finance.
Ahmed said the board had taken the directive seriously and would work towards ensuring that eligible Federal Public Servants could access housing loans through a simpler, transparent and responsive process.
She added that the board would strengthen collaboration with relevant government agencies, financial institutions and private-sector stakeholders to develop sustainable and affordable housing solutions for Federal Government workers.
The initiative is expected to ease some of the financial and administrative challenges confronting public servants seeking to acquire homes through government-backed housing finance schemes.
The Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board is expected to continue reviewing its processes as part of efforts to make housing finance more accessible to eligible workers.
