Police Launch Investigation as Woman Reportedly Seen With Deceased Remains Missing
A 40-year-old man identified simply as Felix, said to be from Cross River State, has been found dead in a guest house along Azikoro Road in the Ekeki area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The deceased was reportedly discovered naked in a room during the early hours of Wednesday after a cleaner raised the alarm. The woman who was allegedly with him before the incident was no longer at the scene.
Eyewitnesses said several sachets of alcoholic drinks were recovered from the room before police cordoned off the area and evacuated the body for further investigation.
The incident attracted sympathisers to the Seriake Dickson Shopping Complex in Yenagoa, where the deceased reportedly worked as a mobile phone repairer.
Three persons, including the guest house owner and a cleaner, were reportedly taken into custody for questioning. The deceased’s brother, Dennis, was also briefly detained after he was found with Felix’s mobile phone but was later released after explaining that the device had been handed to him by a phone charging operator when attempts to locate his brother proved unsuccessful.
Police have not established the exact cause of death and have not confirmed any foul play. Investigators are working to identify and locate the woman who was reportedly last seen with the deceased.
